Why You Keep Doubting Yourself Even When You Know You’re Capable
Share
Have you ever looked at your own track record and wondered why you still second-guess yourself?
You know you can figure things out. You’ve solved problems, learned hard things, and survived unfamiliar situations. Yet a new opportunity appears and your first instinct is to ask whether you’re really the kind of person who can handle it.
Sometimes that gap comes from using feelings as your only evidence. Uncertainty feels like inability, even when your experience says otherwise. Sometimes you’ve grown more skilled than your self-image has had time to recognize.
Instead of trying to talk yourself into instant confidence, collect more accurate information. What have you already done? What part is genuinely new? What would preparation look like? Where can you practice without demanding perfection?
Confidence isn’t the absence of doubt. It’s the willingness to make room for doubt without letting it write your entire résumé.
You can acknowledge the stretch and still take yourself seriously.
One small shift to try
